How to choose a web design company in Singapore
What to look for, the questions worth asking, and the red flags that tell you to keep looking.
Singapore has hundreds of web designers, from freelancers to large agencies. Prices and quality vary widely, and it can be hard to compare. These are the things that matter most.
What to look for
- Work you can click. Ask for live websites, not just screenshots. Open them on your phone. Are they fast? Easy to use? Would you enquire?
- Results, not just looks. A good website brings in enquiries. Ask how they approach SEO, page speed and making it easy for visitors to contact you.
- A clear, itemised quote. You should know exactly what is included: pages, features, content writing, revisions, hosting and what happens after launch.
- Someone who asks about your business. The best web designers ask about your customers and goals before talking about colours and fonts.
Questions to ask
- Can I see websites you have built that are live now?
- What exactly is included in the quote, and what would cost extra?
- Who writes the content?
- How do you make the site easy to find on Google?
- How many rounds of changes are included?
- Will I own the domain, the website and the content?
- Where will it be hosted, and what does that cost each year?
- What happens if I need changes after launch?
Red flags
- The domain is registered in their name. Your domain should always be registered to your business.
- Guaranteed first place on Google. Nobody can promise this. Google says so itself.
- No clear scope. A vague quote leads to surprise bills.
- Locked-in hosting with no way to move your site elsewhere.
- No portfolio of live sites, or only template sites that all look the same.
Comparing quotes fairly
Put quotes side by side and check they cover the same things: number of pages, content writing, features such as booking or payments, SEO setup, revisions, hosting and support. The cheapest quote often leaves out content or SEO, which you then pay for later. If you can, ask about grants such as the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG), and check eligibility with the official sources.
How we work
At SPRED SOLUTIONS we send a fixed, itemised quote after a short call, so you know the full cost before any work starts. You can see the site we built for our own business and our sample sites before you decide.
Should I hire a freelancer or an agency?
Either can work. What matters is live work you like, a clear quote, good communication and support after launch. Smaller studios often give you more direct contact with the people building your site.
Who should own my domain and website?
You should. Make sure the domain is registered to your business and that you receive the website files and content.
Can a web designer guarantee first place on Google?
No. Google controls its rankings and says no one can guarantee a top position. Be cautious of anyone who promises it.
